Companies know that Capitol Warehousing can transport and store imported merchandise cost effectively. We are pleased to announce a new service for our international companies—U.S. Customs public bonded warehousing. Capitol also has an application pending for inclusion in the Dane County Foreign Trade Zone.
At Capitol Warehousing we’ll identify the most effective way to transport your products from the port of entry to a storage facility or your customer’s door. You get one bill and have one contact so you have fewer headaches and more control over your supply chain.
Capitol Warehousing now offers Public (Class 3) Customs bonded warehousing:
Capitol Warehousing offers dry storage as a key feature of our comprehensive public warehousing services.
Our facilities include 700,000 feet of dry storage space. All of this dry storage space is sized sufficiently to store high-cube type containers.
In addition, Capitol’s dry storage space is food grade certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Our dry storage space offers aggressively high standards of pest control and cleanliness, so that our customers can have complete confidence in the safety and integrity of their stored goods.
As part our broader public warehousing services, customers using our dry storage capacity can take advantage of our online inventory services (WebSynapse) to keep tabs on the materials and goods they have stored with us. We can apply our own barcode or use your own unique barcode. Every time something is received at our warehouse, a receipt document is generated and a copy provided to our customer. Similarly, each shipment from dry storage generates a bill of lading with which our customer is provided.
Capitol Warehousing also offers all the advantages of our bulk handling services, with a range of special equipment and capabilities including track conveyors. Shipping and storing materials in bulk increases your product-per-load ratio and reduces your costs significantly.
Also adding to our uniquely broad spectrum of capabilities are the transloading services we offer. Class A railroad lines connect right to our rail siding, enabling your freight to be transferred direct from railcar to our warehouse for dry storage, or to truck for further shipping as the case may be.
Capitol’s public warehousing services are utilized by a wide range of customers. Industrial customers might store such goods as industrial steel coil, lumber, bricks, or plastic resin. Other customers securely store everything from 55 gallon containers of tomatoes to vegetable cans by the millions. Customers achieve great benefits by taking advantage of our large capacity dry storage facilities to better handle and prepare for spikes in business activity and seasonal demands.

At Capitol Warehousing, we are proud to offer our customers quality and reliable refrigerated storage services. We are equipped with 45,000 square feet of temperature controlled storage space. Our refrigerated storage services are enabled by a temperature controlled storage environment which is maintained in the 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 38 degrees Fahrenheit range.
For goods and materials not requiring refrigeration at that level, another area of temperature controlled storage space is maintained in the air conditioned range of 55 degree Fahrenheit to 65 degree Fahrenheit.
(No frozen storage space is offered by Capitol Warehousing at this time.)
All of our temperature controlled space is constantly monitored electronically, and customers with goods in our refrigerated storage and air conditioned storage environments are provided with temperature/humidity graphs reporting on the actual conditions in which their goods and materials are being maintained.
Our temperature controlled storage space is also food grade certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Our customers rest securely with such goods as chocolates, jellies, candles, packaged food mixes, cheese, yogurt and other merchandise dependably maintained in our temperature controlled storage space.
Customers using our refrigerated and temperature controlled storage capacity can also take advantage of our online inventory services (WebSynapse) to keep tabs on the materials and goods they have stored with us. At Capitol Warehousing, we can apply our own barcode or use your unique barcode. Capitol Warehousing is delighted to announce that our facilities are now part of a federally approved foreign trade zone. This is the approved foreign trade zone (FTZ) number 266, which has been granted to Dane County, Wisconsin.
The key aspect of approved foreign trade zones is that they are considered to be outside of U.S. Customs Territory for the purpose of customs duty payment.
As a result, goods and materials entering an approved foreign trade zone, such as the one of which we are now a part, are not subject to customs tariffs until those goods and materials are shipped out of that zone and formally enter into U.S. Customs Territory.
Deferring such duty and tariff payments can be of significant aid to a variety of importers. Just one example would be importers of holiday and seasonal oriented merchandise, who can take advantage of shipping and storage to a foreign trade zone such as the one Capitol Warehousing now occupies to defer duty payments until that merchandise is ready to be sent out for sale.
In addition, goods and materials that are shipped to foreign countries from an approved foreign trade zone are exempt from duty payments. (This provision can be especially useful to firms that import components in order to manufacture finished products that are slated for export.
Foreign trade zone status now adds to the uniquely broad panoply of capabilities and services that Capitol Warehousing has to offer, which include dry storage, refrigerated storage, bulk handling, rail transloading services and third party logistics services.
